Pinch #40.5: A Written Cabaret

Commissioned by: Pinch Cabaret
Published by: Textile
Genre: Experimental Non-Fiction

Pinch Cabaret is a variety show that takes place in Waterloo, Ontario on the third(ish) Saturday of every month. It’s the brainchild of Ben Gorodetsky—performance artist, improviser, filmmaker, storyteller, producer, writer, and arts educator—who curates and hosts each show.

What began as Gorodetsky's personal project has evolved into a vital community fixture that blurs the boundaries between artist and audience, professional and amateur. In Pinch #40.5: A Written Cabaret, multidisciplinary artist and writer Lauren Prousky creates a literary mirror of the cabaret experience itself—a textual variety show that captures the rhythm, irreverence, and intimacy that defines Pinch.

Above all else, Pinch #40.5: A Written Cabaret is an experiment, constructed on a foundation of time spent in community, scaffolded by an unwavering dedication to interdisciplinarity in all its many fascinating forms.
